Shadows and Light Beaded Ornamental Art Cross

Shadows and Light Beaded Ornamental Art Cross:

This cross was inspired by having faith, even when the darkest clouds are hovering overhead.  It is hand-beaded with matte finish wooden and black acrylic beads, and assorted glass and metal beads.  The cross measures 4" tall and 3.25" across, and has a black fiber tassel at the bottom.    Find the Shadows and Light Cross here...

Taking Some Faith on the Road

Hanging a rosary from your car's rear view mirror may or may not be legal in your area, but many people want to have their rosary or symbol of faith in their car with them.  And there are many styles you can choose that are small and unobtrusive; after all, the main point to that law is NOT to obstruct your view!  For example, I've seen silk-flower leis draped around the car mirror, and that will block your view for sure.  But either way, if you want to hang your rosary or beads anywhere else in your car other than the rearview mirror, that's fine too.

Here's a pretty example, that is even scented!

Prayer Beads for a Bible Verse of Love

Prayer Beads for a Bible Verse

These prayer beads have five beads and a cross; and are created to give you peace and encouragement as written in Bible verse 1 Cor. 13:7-8 (ESV).  As you touch each bead, know that 'Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never ends.'  - 1 Cor 13:7-8 (ESV).  The prayer beads are 6.75" in length, and are packaged in a white gift box.  They are a perfect gift for brides to be, friends, family, or anyone who needs love or encouragement.

Anglican Rosary Prayer Beads

Anglican Rosary Prayer Beads

One type of prayer beads are the Anglican Rosary prayer beads.  These prayer beads are used by Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, Protestants, and other Christian denominations.

These prayer beads have a circle of 33 beads signifying the number of years that Jesus lived on earth, and the circle is separated as four sections of seven beads each.  This represents the seven days of creation.

The four large beads inside this circle are the cruciform beads because they form an invisible cross. A large bead before the cross is named the invitatory bead, symbolizing the invitation to the circle of prayer.  When  there is an additional bead included above the invitatory bead, it is referred to as the resurrection bead, which signifies that Christ lives on.

Anglican Rosary prayer beads are most often strung onto cord,  but occasionally you can find a chained version, with the chained beads somewhat resembling a Catholic rosary.  It may be that these are constructed this way for more durability, since there is no cord to get frayed from use.

What Kind of Rosary Do You Prefer?

Rosaries are lovely to use and hold.  They come in many styles, from the very simple knotted cord types that are made completely of cord (even the crucifix), to gorgeous beaded rosaries made from precious stones and silver or gold.

When you select a rosary, chaplet, or prayer beads, consider how the beads are connected, because this affects how they drape and feel, and often how durable they are.

All-Cord Knotted:  This type is durable because there are no stone or glass beads to rub against the cord to make it fray.  Also, it is 'silent'; there are no beads to click and rattle as it is being used.  It is often favored by wartime soldiers.

Beads and Cord:  This type is soft and has a good drape.  The cord may eventually fray over a period of time with frequent handling as the beads rub against the cord.

Linked Beads:  This type features beads joined with tiny loops of wire.  It is durable since the wire can't get frayed by the beads.  However, if it is pulled too hard, the wire loops can open and pull apart.

Wire Wrapped Loops and Beads:  This type features beads joined with loops of wire that have been securely wrapped to prevent opening.  This method of construction has been found in very old artifacts!  The drawback with both linked beads and wire wrapped loop construction is that they often kink when laid down; but to remedy this you simply give them a gentle shake and they will drape nicely again.
